Two Phone Mount Choices in the Box
Snaps into Place
Magnets Work Surprisingly Well
We've long been skeptical of magnetic phone mounts, but it turns out they are pretty awesome. Many of the phones we tested were sufficiently magnetic on their own to just attach right to the mount. If not, we include two sizes of metal plates with adhesive backing. You could stick one to your phone, but if you use a case, it just goes between the case and the phone and works beautifully. While this magnetic mount is quick and easy to use, if you do not want to deal with the plates and your phone does not attach without them, the XXL Clip is in the box for you too.
Tight Corners and Large Phones are Not a Problem
The strong spring of the included clamshell holder can be more secure than the magnet mount if you are really putting it through it's paces. This is ideal for larger/heavier devices or bumpy driving conditions. The spring clip design means it’s still easy to use, simply pinch the back to open the holder. It opens up to 4 inches wide, so as long as your device is narrower than that, it will fit just fine. When removing your phone from the holder you should avoid letting the strong spring snap shut. Over time, this can cause the holder to break. If your holder breaks we will replace it, but this can be easily avoided.

Well made but still vibrates

The phone's on that long stalk and vibrates too much while I'm driving, despite the stalk being rather firm and the mount in the cupholder slot being solid. Also not a good location encroaching on the passenger space and with its proximity to the handbrake, and a rather low, sideways change of attention from the windscreen.
The magnet is strong enough to hold a phone while driving, but not inspire confidence while tapping on the screen or thinking about it getting bumped by the passenger. This will vary by the thickness of your case between the ferrous plate and the magnet.
However it's fine as a holder for the passenger's phone while she's not using it. And a USB charging cable can be short so it's not so much of a bother when not connected to a phone.
I'm using a Scosche MagicMount Pro Dash instead, mounted on the vent pod just to the left of the infotainment screen.
Rather helpful product!

Was looking for a phone mount but I didn't want to permanently adhere anything to the limited dash area of my Fiat 124 Spider. This product does the trick and does it quite nicely. I had already removed the passenger side cup holder because it hit the knee of every passenger that got in this tiny car. This product installs in a second into that slot and only takes up vertical space so no more knee bruises for my passengers! I prefer use the magnet with the metal plate on my phone instead of the clip but I tested the clip and it works fine, the magnet is just faster every time I get in the car, I can almost throw the phone at the magnet and it sticks. It is very unobtrusive and doesn't cheapen the look of my new car but also seems very solidly built and I'm betting it lasts the life of my new Fiat. Thanks for the great product CravenSpeed! (Now I just need to pick up a front license plate mount and a stubby antennae and my car will be set!!)
