Better Than The Stock MINI Dipstick
It's a Quick Read
We created our Dipper to read just like the stock one. The lowest groove indicates you need to add approx. 1 quart of oil, the middle point indicates about 1/2 quart of oil, and the top groove means your oil is full.
Fits Almost All MINIs
Our second gen model fits all prince N14 and N18 engines. That means if you have a Countryman, Clubman, Coupe or Roadster it does not matter if it is a base, S or JCW model this dipstick will be perfect. Some goes for any hatchback MINI Coopers from 2007 to 2014 and convertibles from 2009 to 2014.
If you have a first generation MINI, then we can only supply a dipstick if you have the supercharged S or JCW model. It's nothing against the 'Justa Coopers,' only that there are not as many around these days!
Disclaimer Alert! Oven mitts should never come into the equation, but please be careful touching anything that close to your Turbo!

Much easier to read with brand new oil. Haven't tried to check the oil once the engine got hot but did notice that the handle will get pretty hot.

Very substantial product, much better than OEM. Much easier to check the oil in my mini now!

Purchased two Craven Speed dipsticks for my two MINIs. Intelligent design for accurate oil level measurement (over the factory one). The red handle adds a nice touch to my pristine engine bay. Never thought checking the oil can be so much fun. Highly recommend.

I certainly agree that the Craven Speed dipstick is of superior quality to the somewhat flimsy o.e. plastic handled, blade dipstick. It's much easier to insert and remove. Both IMO are difficult to read the actual oil levels but the Craven Speed is slightly easier with its delineated markings. I feel it's certainly more durable and not likely to ever break within the dipstick tube as the o.e. one is known to do. Not sure what would make it even easier to read the oil levels but improvements seem possible in that regard.

Nowhere does Craven Speed tell you that this dipstick drops into the dipstick tube with no resistance. They tell you that you won't break it, but the fact that it slides down effortlessly goes unsaid. And yes, it's easier to use.

I was recommended this dipstick because reading the stock dipstick can be difficult. Once mine arrived and I did the swap, I was impressed with how nice the Craven dipstick is, and disappointed at how cheap the stock dipstick is.
No doubt, this dipstick is easy to read and high quality.

This is a terrific upgrade! I purchased the Second Gen CravenSpeed MINI Dip Stick to get an accurate read of the oil level... something I could never achieve with the factory dip stick. The OEM dip stick is a design that is being miss-applied to the MINI engine. It appears BMW is trying to use a dip stick that was made for their other (older) engines (a similar design works fine in my 1989 325i). CravenSpeed's MINI dip stick works as advertised. It is a bit expensive, but the alternatives are much costlier!

NEVER let your OEM dipstick get to the point that I did, where it breaks off inside the guide tube (R53 Mini). I'm a decent wrench, but it still took me four hours to put the front end in "service mode" and get the tube out, then put it all back together.
The only possible negative about this dipstick is that it is expensive enough that I hesitated buying it for about a year until mine broke. I knocked of one star for that.

I had extreme difficulty reading the original dipstick and bought a craven dipstick. It was the exact same length as the original and was very easy to take in and out. It was real easy to read which is the most important feature.

The original design sucks in comparison to Craven's design, which I find incredibly bad. There's really no comparison. If you see any issues at all inserting or removing the original dipstick from a mini cooper S, then you need to get this. It's well worth it.
