Better Than The Stock MINI Dipstick
It's a Quick Read
We created our Dipper to read just like the stock one. The lowest groove indicates you need to add approx. 1 quart of oil, the middle point indicates about 1/2 quart of oil, and the top groove means your oil is full.
Fits Almost All MINIs
Our second gen model fits all prince N14 and N18 engines. That means if you have a Countryman, Clubman, Coupe or Roadster it does not matter if it is a base, S or JCW model this dipstick will be perfect. Some goes for any hatchback MINI Coopers from 2007 to 2014 and convertibles from 2009 to 2014.
If you have a first generation MINI, then we can only supply a dipstick if you have the supercharged S or JCW model. It's nothing against the 'Justa Coopers,' only that there are not as many around these days!
Disclaimer Alert! Oven mitts should never come into the equation, but please be careful touching anything that close to your Turbo!

I'd actually give this 4.8 stars (I reserve 5 stars for products I don't see an easy way to improve.)
In my previous vehicle (Ford F150 with 260 thousand miles on it) I was used to checking my oil at every gas-up. But with my MINI I was continually frustrated with how hard to read the original MINI dipstick was - to the point I'd often skip checking my oil. Then I found this product. This is SOOO much easier to read. Now I actually look forward to checking my oil. My only suggestion would be for the manufacturer to coat the handle with some sort of insulator. After driving it hard the handle can get blisteringly hot. You CAN wrap a rag or something around it when needed, but you gotta REMEMBER to in order for that strategy to pay off.

I have had problems with the original engine oil dip stick. So I bought a new one through auto zone. About $30.00 I do believe. Broke instantly in three places when I tried to put it in and pull it out. The biggest waste of money ever. I saw someone talking about the cravenspeed one Online ( when I was looking for another new one.) was a bit expensive for me, but the reviews I was reading convinced me. (Could not find a single bad one.) I am so glad I did get it. I have never said this about a part on a car.... but, I LOVE MY NEW CRAVENSPEED!!!!!!!! So easy to check the oil now. Thank you!!!!!!!!

I purchased this dipstick after buying a 2004 Cooper S and found the dipstick was cracked in 4 places. Initially I went the cheap route and bought a Dorman for $14 off Rock Auto and after using it ONCE, it too was cracked in the same 4 places. I read on several forums this is a common problem and many folks suggested this Cravenspeed unit. The price is not even a factor when you consider what it would cost to remove broken plastic from your crankcase. The Cravenspeed is very high quality and it slid right in to the dipstick tube with no effort. I wish I would have found this part first and put my first $14 towards it because it is a fantastic part that plays a very important role in the maintenance and longevity of your car.

Much easier to read with brand new oil. Haven't tried to check the oil once the engine got hot but did notice that the handle will get pretty hot.

Purchased two Craven Speed dipsticks for my two MINIs. Intelligent design for accurate oil level measurement (over the factory one). The red handle adds a nice touch to my pristine engine bay. Never thought checking the oil can be so much fun. Highly recommend.

I certainly agree that the Craven Speed dipstick is of superior quality to the somewhat flimsy o.e. plastic handled, blade dipstick. It's much easier to insert and remove. Both IMO are difficult to read the actual oil levels but the Craven Speed is slightly easier with its delineated markings. I feel it's certainly more durable and not likely to ever break within the dipstick tube as the o.e. one is known to do. Not sure what would make it even easier to read the oil levels but improvements seem possible in that regard.

Nowhere does Craven Speed tell you that this dipstick drops into the dipstick tube with no resistance. They tell you that you won't break it, but the fact that it slides down effortlessly goes unsaid. And yes, it's easier to use.
