Scratch and Dent?
Occasionally, we get new parts or returns that have cosmetic blemishes that do not affect the functionality of the part. Rather than toss them in the scrap bin, we offer the parts for sale at a deeply discounted price. In many cases, the location of the blemish prevents it from even being seen once the part is installed. Like all of our products, we still guarantee it to be the correct fit and to work properly and will offer to exchange components should anything need adjustment. Please note that we do not issue refunds for scratch and dent parts.
Timing is Crucial
With the design of the crank, pulley, and timing chain sprocket assembly in the MINI Cooper R56, there is the potential for catastrophic damage. If the bolt which secures the pulley hub and sprocket were to loosen over the life of the car, it would be possible for the timing chain sprocket to become misaligned on the crank. This could lead to damaged pistons, bent valves, or worse. The CravenSpeed Crank Bolt Lockdown Plate eliminates this possibility by making it physically impossible for the bolt to loosen itself.
Lockdown
The function of the plate is incredibly simple. It installs onto the crank pulley via the included extended pulley bolts. The triangular cutout in the center engages on the hex head of the bolt, preventing it from backing out. Problem solved.
Bolt on Solution
Installation of the plate is a snap especially if you are installing one of our lightweight crank pulleys at the same time. When attaching your crank pulley, simply slide the plate in place over the hub bolt, and then fasten the plate and pulley to the hub with the included high strength grade 10.9 bolts. We've also included some Loc-Tite to ensure that the pulley bolts will stay put. The plate itself is CNC machined in the USA from 6061 aluminum and anodized with a classic CravenSpeed red.
NOTE: A harmonic dampener or crank pulley is not included with this product. Only the lockdown plate, 3 M8 bolts, and Loc-Tite are included. This device is only compatible with the updated harmonic balancer and bolt or our crank pulley.
